29 7/8in. nitro reproved Greener trade mark fine damascus barrels, the rib engraved 'W.W. GREENER. HAYMARKET LONDON & ST. MARY'S SQUARE BIRMINGHAM. WINNER AT ALL THE LONDON GUN TRIALS 1875.1877. 1878 & 1879', and with a blue heron at the breech end, the tubes profusely decorated at the breech ends with scrolling acanthus detailing, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, scroll-back action with arcaded fences, internal crossbolt, the toplever gold-inlaid with a crown, automatic side-safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving surrounding game scene vignettes of hound and fowl and the makers name inlaid in gold, the underside with two rabbits, the triggerguard with two pointers, the triggerguard tang with the serial number offset in a banner under two flying partridge, retaining some renewed colour-hardening and finish, 14 3/8in. highly-figured stock with decorative horn drop points and ornately bordered chequering, 3/4in. ebonite extension, the fore-end with ornate chequering, Deeley & Edge patent release catch and ornate horn finial, weight 7lb. 1oz., in a brass-cornered leather case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was started on 24th July 1893 and finished on the 15th December that year. They have also kindly informed us that 'List No.1' is a 'Royal' grade and the highest grade available at the time, costing 60 guineas
